Record Number of Americans NOT in Labor Force
by admin on Apr.07, 2012, under Finance
88 million of 313 million people are not in the work force. ~ 28% of America.
By comparison, in 1980 this number was 60 million out of 227 million. ~ 26% of America.
Corresponding ratio of those working to those not working:
2011 ~ 2.57 workers for every non worker
1980 ~ 2.85 workers for every non worker

The trend is clearly less people having to support more people . . . are we approaching a breaking point? Nearly half of Americans live in a household receiving government benefits, according to this article.

Real unemployment rate still over 20% per John Williams Shadow Government Statistics. Obviously the government wants us to think everything is okay, so they have changed how they calculate unemployment over the years to make it seem lower.
