Fort Lauderdale Police Deploy Video Surveillance Truck

Per the Orlando Sun Sentinel, the FLPD has recently put into service an armored vehicle with bulletproof glass to enable 24/7 surveillance of drug infested neighborhoods. The truck, which has been named “The Peacemaker”, has the following statements written on it:
Warning: You are under video surveillance.

Eisenhower Warned of Scientific Technological Elite in Farewell Address

Upon hearing that the United States and allies have purchased over 20,000 drones, and thinking about the police departments (including New York City?) who now have drones, I couldn’t help but reflect on the following statement made by President Eisenhower in his farewell address:
Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific technological elite.
